Where were you when you heard the news on 9/11/2001?
Some events are so monumental that we can easily remember where. In my parents generation that event was commonly the assasination of JFK. In my generation it is 9/11.
I was working on a graduate degree at Auburn University and heard the news when my alarm clock went off. It was set to play music from the radio, but all the talk was about the attack. After waking and turning on the news I was stunned at what had happened. Like many others that day, I was glued to the TV all day just trying to process the magnitude of what had taken place.
Several years have now passed, but this infamous day is burned into the fabric of American history due to the tragic events and the lives that were lost.
This WOD is not original with FitnessHQ (I am not sure who to attribute it to), but it is a fitting way to remember 9/11.
Enjoy… and remember.

2001 Meter Run or Row
Each component of this WOD is symbolic of 9/11. T 2001M row or run represents the year the attack took place. The nine movements with 11 reps corresponds to the date, and each of the weights have meaning:
- 125 – number of deaths at the Pentagon
- 175 – American Airlines Flight 175 that hit the South Tower
- 170 – Flight 77 and Flight 93 combined
- 110 – Number of floors in each tower of the World Trade Center
This is a brutal WOD, that represents a very tough day in American history.
Enjoy every breath of life you have and good luck with the workout!!
These are the names of many of the victims of 9/11.
