3 Tips to Annihilate 15.5

March 27, 2015 By Harris Reynolds Leave a Comment

Well, all good things must come to an end. And the 2015 CrossFit Open ends this weekend with the last workout: 15.5!

The Workout

For time

27 calorie row, 27 thrusters

21 calorie row, 21 thrusters

15 calorie row, 15 thrusters

9 calorie row, 9 thrusters

Weight for the men is 95 pounds; for the women it is 65 pounds

The lower your time the better. We will all do 72 thrusters and burn 72 calories on the rower.  Get it done as fast as you can.

Live Competition

The last open announcement competition is going out with a BANG! A three-way slug fest of three of the top women in CrossFit: Samantha Briggs, Camille Leblanc-Bazinet and Annie Thorisdottir.

Briggs won the competition with a score of 7 minutes flat, followed by Annie at 7:28 and Leblanc-Bazinet in 7:50.

Tips for 15.5

1. Stay consistent on the rower. Pull long and hard, and rest a second after the pull.  Pace yourself here.

2. The long sets of thrusters are going to be a killer. Unless you are a complete machine, break them up.

3. Dig deep. Hopefully this won’t be a long workout. Unless you are an elite athlete though, it’ll take you 10 to 12 minutes (probably 15 for me…thrusters gas me quicker than anything). But dig deep. There is a set number of reps here, just keep going! It will be over quick.

We hope everyone competing goes out with a bang! Leave it all in the box on this last workout. You’ll have to wait another year before you face another open workout.

Good luck!
